18, 19, 20 & 21, 2010
August 18– 21 inclusive
The Jasper Rodeo Wranglers will be riding twice daily all week long.
They’re lookin’ for folks in their western duds and awarding prizes.
So dust off yer hat and dig deep in yer closets folks! Times will
vary through the week. Tickets are available daily at the Athabasca
Hotel in the heart of Jasper's townsite and after 4 pm at the Jasper
Activity Centre. Giddy up and get yours!
It’s as good as it gets when you rodeo in the Rockies! Catch the
thrills and spills as professional cowboys rope, ride and race against
the clock. The fun begins at 7 pm at the Jasper Activity Centre
each night. Doors open at 6 pm with rush seating.
Who knew poop could pay? Jasper Businesses are eagerly watching
for Miss Rodeo Jasper and her trusty mount riding through the downtown
core all week. If they have purchased a spot on our Monplopoly board
and when MRJ’s steed ‘deposits”, they WIN! 10 lucky winners will
be awarded a gift basket chock full of great items from the fine
folks at Molson.
August 18– 20 inclusive
Join the young ladies of the Jasper Grizzlies Girl's Hockey Team
as they fundraise for their upcoming season and feed you some fine
food all at the same time. It’s service with a smile and a Rocky
Mountain view at the annual Rodeo BBQ. It all happens in the CIBC
bank parking lot from 11 am to 2 pm.
August 18
The annual Stick Pony Parade is scheduled for 10 am from the Jasper
Activity Centre parking lot. Any child who wishes to participate
can meet there, bring their favourite stick pony and dress the part
too! There is no charge for this event that will wind through the
town site and include Miss Rodeo Jasper, mascots and wagons.
It is judgment day and Jasper’s very own rodeo royalty will judge
the annual Jasper Tourism and Commerce Business Decorating Contest.
You don’t want to miss your chance to impress these ladies so rustle
up some team spirit and decorate! Git along now!
August 19
It is family night at the rodeo, so round up your brood and head
on over.
Ever thought what it would be like to be a rodeo clown or queen?
Two lucky youngsters will have won that opportunity! One youngster
will tag along with our rodeo clown and barrel man, Waylon Marshall
and another will ride with royalty as they live the rodeo life for
an afternoon! How much fun is that? You won’t be able to miss them;
they’ll be wearing big smiles in the VIP seats at the performance!
It isn’t just about luck tonight as one youngster treats his or
her family to a night at the rodeo courtesy of the Colouring Contest!
Li’l wranglers have been busy with their crayons and it’s time to
ante up a reward for their effort. Congratulations to the winner
for some fancy artwork! Enjoy the Thursday, Family Night Performance!
August 21
Join the members of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Brigade for a pancake
breakfast in the parking lot of Jasper's very own fire brigade digs,
the fire hall, of course! Proceeds from this event support the Edmonton
Burn Unit. The breakfast runs from 9 to 11 am on Saturday August
15th. Come one, come all, come hungry!
Because Breast Cancer can affect the lives of so many, those in
the world of professional rodeo have made it their business to raise
awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer! Join us
in this fight as this rodeo performance sees the cowboys, cowgirls,
rodeo committee and royalty demonstrate their commitment to this
cause. It’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink night – don’t miss it!
Children of all ages are invited to the ATCO Li’l Britches Corral
where everyone has free admission to the rodeo arena to have their
faces painted, go for a horseback ride, learn to rope, cavort with
mascots, and catch a glimpse of the outside from inside a rodeo
clown’s barrel. Too wild and wooly for you? How about a photo taken
with rodeo royalty or a visit with a cowboy poet? There is fun for
everyone! Drop by the arena grounds from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Be one
of the first Li'l Britches to stampede through our doors at high
noon and you'll wrangle yerself a free straw hat! NOTE: an adult
MUST accompany children under the age of 9.
You just haven’t been to the 2010 edition of the Jasper Heritage
Rodeo, if you haven’t been to the rodeo dance. The grown up fun
starts Saturday evening at 9 pm in the curling arena (same building
as the rodeo). This year heralds the return of a live band! Enjoy
this country music treat featuring Brett Kissel. You won’t
want to miss the annual opportunity to go all in when one lucky
person wins a trip to the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton. Yep,
it’s a trip for 2 and YOU could be the winner!
